    Taking this wonderful piece of kit out of the box, installing the CPU, sliding it carefully into the PC chassis, making triple sure every single part is connected and in just the right spot for your fresh new build...

    You close the case, connect it up and hit power...
    Everything lights up, you rejoice and sit down, then it dies...
    Well it is probably training the RAM or CPU (another name for seeing what their stable clocks are with Auto OC) but, that surely is not enabled by default?

    Still no display, so plugging the screen into the motherboard directly (thankfully this CPU, 7900X, has a iGPU) and joy it says... USB Overvolt Protection?

    Jump on the phone and google it and ask Copilot what is going on?!?

    Oh, it just turns out to be a known fault with a whole batch of these, with no way to remedy the fault.

    So after all the work of assembly, unpack it, put it back in its box and send it back for a refund.

    I bought an Asus X670E instead.

    After 5 years of exclusive MSI ownership on all my main machines, I am back with Asus (With a review to come)

    As for this board, if you want to take the chance. It looks great and is very well built.

    The space around the socket is good and in general I would have been happy running it!

    Unfortunately, as things stand, I cannot recommend this board as a worthwhile purchase.

    Rather buy a different one and hopefully save the headache of sending it back.

    Oh, and as an Aside... test the motherboard before installing it :)
    We sometimes become a bit lazy and forget to do the basics.

    3 months on and it fails to recognise my 2nd nvme drive, consistently getting BSOD and can't run my expensive DDR5 RAM at full speed.

    I think the high review score here is because they grouped it with the other models that actually do work, but the PRO X670-P WIFI is an absolute pile of s**t.

    Original review:
    First off, it doesn't come with much, a couple of sata cables and a few of the most stupid M.2 "locker" screws that are supposed to lock your M.2 drives in better. Pointless and fiddly.
    The MSI software is useless and may or may not actually install depending on your luck. If it does install it probably won't do what you want, the fan section on mine stopped working and would instead load the Mystic light feature so I can no longer set fan speeds.

    Then we get the random BSOD and total failure to post, I had to use the Bios flash option and the button on the back that it luckily has otherwise it would have been sent back.
    The bios is fairly configurable and it boots pretty quick if it recognises your RAM, if it's not recognised it will sit at a black screen for ages before finally posting.

    4x M.2 ports is good, and the gen5 one is nice, which was my main reason for buying, but overall not recommended.

    Make sure you update the BIOS first, ..and do not change the memory training settings-it will take a little longer to POST but it will work flawlessly. Works well with 7000 MHz DRR5 memories x2, tested OC up to 7700, but I'm using the default XMP at 7000 MHz with low latency. Gen 5 Nvme transfer rate 10000+, consistent with my nvme specs.
    Lots of fan connectors, 6 PWM fan, 2RGB, 2ARGB V2, Cpu and separate water pump connectors. You will need a PSU with 2xCPU connectors. Works well with 2NVME, 1SSD, and 2×HDD in RAID1 mode storage devices connected.
